Join our very own Usha Iyer, President & CRO and Head of Community, Morgan Wood as they explore occupational feminization and its impact on the community management industry. We’ll demystify the historical influences, like the gendered division of labor and societal attitudes towards “soft skills,” that have caused the undervaluation and precariousness of community building.
Together, we will examine the challenges community builders face in this largely feminized sector, such as wage disparities, underrepresentation in leadership roles, and the intensified pressures from the ever-evolving digital and gig economy. While these issues may seem daunting, they are not insurmountable.
Our session is designed to equip community builders with strategies to influence change. We will highlight the benefits of fostering diversity and inclusion, discuss approaches to demand fair compensation, underscore the significance of professional development, and stress the crucial need for acknowledging the value of “soft skills.” We will also explore ways in which systemic inequalities ingrained in “pink-collar” jobs can be challenged and dismantled.
Join us as we unite to redefine the narrative surrounding community building and management. We will shift from identifying challenges towards harnessing our unique strengths and paving the way for a more equitable and esteemed profession.
